Home to Inagua National Park and its 60,000 West Indian Flamingo and more than 130 other bird species, the island is worth its salt in so many ways. Morton Salt Co. operates one of the world’s largest solar evaporation saltworks, where sea water is transformed into commercial salt. The solar salt field comprises 300,000 acres on Great Inagua, where a million pounds of salt is produced per year, making it the second largest saline operation in North America, making the small island an industrial powerhouse.
